# 9.6 Left / Right Roles and How to Read the Pedigree

This page explains the roles of Left / Right in Breed and how to read the Pedigree shown on the NFT detail screen.

To understand Nicks and Inbreeding, first separate the following.

* Bloodlines used for the current Breed judgment
* Bloodlines left in the child MANEKINEKO's Pedigree after Breed
* Bloodlines carried into future Breed attempts

The most important point is that the bloodline lines reflected in the Pedigree are always lines inherited as Left-side lines.

***

### What is a Pedigree?

The Pedigree is a display used to check the bloodline lines that a MANEKINEKO carries into future Breed attempts.

The Pedigree displays bloodlines up to 4 generations, shown as 1G / 2G / 3G / 4G.

| Display | Meaning |
| ------- | ----------------------------- |
| 1G | The closest generation |
| 2G | The next generation back |
| 3G | A further previous generation |
| 4G | The deepest generation shown |

The smaller the number, the closer the generation is to the current MANEKINEKO.

Bloodlines and individuals shown in the Pedigree become reference material for thinking about Nicks and Inbreeding in future Breed attempts.

***

### Left / Right basics

Breed sets two MANEKINEKO on Left and Right.

On the Breed screen, the Left side is shown as Priority.

Priority means the side that is prioritized as the bloodline base of the child MANEKINEKO.

Left and Right are both parent MANEKINEKO used for Breed, but their roles are not the same.

| Placement | Basic role |
| --------- | --------------------------------------------------- |
| Left | Becomes the bloodline base of the child MANEKINEKO. |
| Right | Relates to the current Breed combination judgment. |

Left is the central side for creating the child's bloodline.

Right does not become the child's bloodline base.\
However, Right is referenced as part of the condition judgment for the current Breed, including Nicks, Inbreeding, Rare-related Breed, and certain P-rank floor conditions.\
The Right parent alone does not guarantee the child's P-rank.

***

### Current Breed judgment looks at both Left and Right

When Breed is executed, not only Left but also Right is involved in the judgment.

In the current Breed judgment, up to 4 bloodlines are used on each side, Left and Right.\
These maximum 4 bloodlines include the bloodline of the parent individual used for Breed and the bloodline lines displayed in the Pedigree.

For Nicks, up to 4 Left-side bloodlines and up to 4 Right-side bloodlines are checked in combination.

Therefore, up to 16 bloodline compatibility candidates can be checked.

For Inbreeding, the system checks whether the displayed individual identifier code, or tokenId, overlaps, rather than checking only the bloodline name.

| What is checked | Meaning in the current Breed |
| ---------------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| Left individual | Becomes the child's bloodline base. |
| Left Pedigree | Relates to Nicks and Inbreeding judgment. |
| Right individual | Relates to the current Breed judgment. |
| Right Pedigree | Relates to Nicks and Inbreeding judgment. |

In other words, Right does not become the child's bloodline base, but that does not mean it is irrelevant to Breed judgment.

In the current Breed, Nicks, Inbreeding, and other judgments are made while looking at the bloodlines held by both Left and Right.

***

### Core rule: what remains in the Pedigree is the line inherited as Left

When Breed succeeds, the child MANEKINEKO's Pedigree is created.

At that time, the bloodline lines reflected in the Pedigree are always bloodline lines inherited as Left-side lines.

The MANEKINEKO placed on Left becomes the child's bloodline base.

Therefore, the Left individual and the lines displayed in the Left Pedigree are inherited into the child's Pedigree.

The MANEKINEKO placed on Right does not become the child's bloodline base.

Therefore, the Right individual is not shown in the child's Pedigree.

However, the lines displayed in the Right Pedigree are inherited into the child's Pedigree.

This is because the lines displayed in the Right Pedigree are also lines that were inherited as Left-side lines up to that Right.

### Rules for what enters the child's Pedigree

In the child's Pedigree, bloodlines held by the parents are shown one generation deeper.

| Original information | Treatment in the child's Pedigree |
| ------------------------------ | --------------------------------- |
| Left individual | Shown as 1G |
| 1G shown in the Left Pedigree | Shown as 2G in the child |
| 2G shown in the Left Pedigree | Shown as 3G in the child |
| 3G shown in the Left Pedigree | Shown as 4G in the child |
| Right individual | Not shown |
| 1G shown in the Right Pedigree | Shown as 2G in the child |
| 2G shown in the Right Pedigree | Shown as 3G in the child |
| 3G shown in the Right Pedigree | Shown as 4G in the child |

The Pedigree displays up to 4 generations.

Therefore, a bloodline that was 4G in a parent's Pedigree becomes 5G from the child's perspective. It is not displayed in the child's Pedigree and is not included in Nicks or Inbreeding targets.

***

### How to think about Right-side bloodline lines

The Right individual is not shown in the child's Pedigree.

On the other hand, the bloodline lines displayed in the Right Pedigree are inherited into the child's Pedigree.

The important point is that the lines displayed in the Right Pedigree are also lines that the Right previously inherited as Left-side lines through past Breed.

In other words, the bloodline lines entering from the Right side are also lines that have been inherited as Left-side lines.

Therefore, what appears in the child's Pedigree is not the Right individual itself, but the Pedigree lines that the Right already holds.

***

### What is shown in the Pedigree matters for future Breed

Bloodlines and individuals shown in the Pedigree become important in future Breed attempts.

Nicks look at compatibility between bloodlines.

Inbreeding looks at whether the same MANEKINEKO individual overlaps.

Therefore, the bloodlines and individuals shown in the Pedigree become material for future Breed strategy.

The detailed mechanics are explained later in [9.8 Nicks and Bloodline Compatibility](/breed/nicks-and-lineage-compatibility.md) and [9.9 Inbreeding and Combined Judgment](/breed/inbreeding-and-combined-judgment.md).

### Pedigree display symbols

In the Pedigree, each bloodline is shown with a group symbol and bloodline name.

Example:\
`[L] Cobalt-8e2A`\
`[Z] Chronos-KI8S`\
`[V] Jasper-FT8E`\
`[N] Basalt-K8Nv`

The initial symbols such as `[L]` and `[Z]` represent bloodline groups.

| Symbol | Meaning |
| ------ | ----------- |
| \[Z] | Zenith line |
| \[L] | Luna line |
| \[V] | Vega line |
| \[N] | Nebula line |

For example, `[L] Cobalt-8e2A` represents an individual with the Luna-group Cobalt bloodline.

***

### Bloodline name and individual identifier code

The name shown in the Pedigree consists of the bloodline name and a code used to identify the individual.

Example:\
`[L] Cobalt-8e2A`

| Display | Meaning |
| ------- | ------------------------------------ |
| \[L] | Luna line |
| Cobalt | Bloodline name |
| 8e2A | Code used to identify the individual |

Even if two entries have the same Cobalt bloodline, they are treated as different MANEKINEKO individuals if their individual identifier codes are different.

This distinction is important for understanding Inbreeding.

***

### Relationship between Pedigree and Nicks

Nicks look at compatibility between bloodlines.

Bloodlines shown in the Pedigree relate to Nicks judgment in future Breed attempts.

When checking Nicks, mainly check the following.

| What to check | Description |
| --------------- | -------------------------------------------------------- |
| Bloodline group | Z / L / V / N |
| Bloodline name | Genesis / Cobalt / Jasper / Basalt, and others |
| Combination | Bloodline compatibility between Left side and Right side |

Nicks are not a mechanism for checking whether two entries are the same MANEKINEKO individual.

They are a mechanism for checking compatibility between bloodlines.

The detailed Nicks mechanism is explained later in [Nicks](/breed/nicks-and-lineage-compatibility.md).

***

### Relationship between Pedigree and Inbreeding

Inbreeding looks at whether the same MANEKINEKO individual overlaps.

The important point here is not only the bloodline name, but also the individual identifier code.

| What to check | Description |
| -------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Bloodline name | Cobalt / Genesis / Jasper, and others |
| Individual identifier code | 8e2A / KI8S / FT8E, and others |
| Overlap | Whether the same MANEKINEKO individual overlaps within the Pedigree |

Inbreeding is a mechanism for checking whether the same individual overlaps, not whether the bloodline name is the same.

The detailed Inbreeding mechanism is explained later in [Inbreeding](/breed/inbreeding-and-combined-judgment.md).

### When placing special MANEKINEKO on Left / Right

MANEKINEKO such as OG, Origin, and Elite have different treatment from standard MANEKINEKO.

Here, we only explain the overview.

| Type | Concept |
| ------ | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| OG | When placed on Left, it manifests a new bloodline. |
| Origin | Treated as a special MANEKINEKO with Genesis bloodline. |
| Elite | Cannot be set on Right in Season 1. |

The detailed rules are explained on the respective [later pages](/breed/og-origin-genesis.md).

***

### How OG is displayed

OG does not belong to the standard Z / L / V / N groups.

Therefore, when OG appears in the Pedigree, it is displayed separately from bloodline groups such as Zenith / Luna / Vega / Nebula.

Display example:

`[OG] Primal-02A7`

Because the OG individual itself does not belong to a standard bloodline group, the OG individual itself is not used for Nicks judgment.

However, when OG is placed on Left, a new bloodline manifests when Breed is executed.

That manifested bloodline is involved in the Nicks judgment for that Breed attempt.

The detailed treatment of OG is explained later in [OG / Origin / Genesis](/breed/og-origin-genesis.md).

### Summary

In the current Breed judgment, the bloodlines held by both Left and Right are involved.

Left is the parent that becomes the bloodline base of the child MANEKINEKO.

Right does not become the child's bloodline base, but it is involved in the current Breed combination.

The bloodline lines recorded in the Pedigree and carried into the next generation are always lines inherited as Left-side lines.

The Left individual and Left Pedigree are inherited into the child's Pedigree.

The Right individual is not shown in the child's Pedigree, but the lines shown in the Right Pedigree are inherited into the child's Pedigree.

Bloodlines shown in the Pedigree relate to Nicks judgment in future Breed attempts.

Individual identifier codes shown in the Pedigree relate to Inbreeding judgment in future Breed attempts.

The next page explains [the difference between OG, Origin, and Genesis](/breed/og-origin-genesis.md).
